All my creations and work, are made from unique vintage hemp piece of fabric, and answer to the Japanese precept:
Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会), a Japanese four-character idiom that describes a cultural concept of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment.
The term could be translated as:
- For this time only
- Once in a lifetime
- You never know what you have until it is gone
- Enjoy the present moment because that moment will never come back
- Life time chance

Each cushion, or bedcover is unique or produced in a very limited series (2 to 4 pcs maximum). I rarely find the same roll of hemp; this really make the unicity of my work.
My creations come to life according to what fabrics, textures, asperities and particularities I found. And what I wish to emphasize in order to bring the unique character to each model. Therefore, each defect, each seam or accident of life become for me aesthetic assets.
The collection is declined for the moment in cushions going from the smallest 55x35cm to the biggest 110x50cm. They are prepared and cut according to the size of the piece of hemp, nothing is wasted, even my labels are scraps of the piece of hemp used. According to my desires and the piece of hemp, I propose a range of natural and dyed cushions in earthy colors.
All my cushion interiors are 100% feather, made in Europe.
Custom orders are also possible, but again within the size of the hemp piece sourced and available. For any particular request, please send us an email at: info@isabelleyamamoto.com
Recently, for private projects, benches with the Japanese futon filling technique have been realized, in association with a Belgian partner specialized in the realization of futon mattresses according to the ancestral Japanese technique.
New creations are currently being prototyped and will soon be available for sale.
