I recently had the pleasure of exhibiting my work in 'Textiles Reimagined,' a group exhibition held in Japan from May 3rd to 11th, 2025. This insightful exhibition was thoughtfully curated by hitonoto Japan. It explored how often-overlooked materials like fabric scraps and old cloth can be given new life and purpose through the imagination of creators. Each piece in the show offered a unique charm, transforming the ordinary into something truly extraordinary.

先日、日本のグループ展「Textiles Reimagined」で、私の作品を展示していただく機会に恵まれました。残念ながら現地に赴くことは叶いませんでしたが、2025年5月3日から11日まで開催されたこの展覧会は、hitonoto Japan様が心を込めて企画してくださった、本当に心温まる、示唆に富んだものだったと伺っています。

この素敵な企画展では、普段はあまり注目されない布の端切れや古布といった素材が、クリエイターの想像力によってどのように新しい命を吹き込まれ、意味を与えられるか、というテーマが深く掘り下げられていました。会場に並んだ作品はどれも、ごくありふれたものが驚くほど素晴らしいものへと生まれ変わり、その一つひとつが独自の輝きを放っていたに違いありません。

Zabuton - 座布団
|
|
Among the works I presented, I'd like to specifically share about a zabuton. This particular piece is a direct result of my deep inspiration from Japan's 'Wabi-Sabi' aesthetic, filtered through my European sensibility, capturing beauty in simplicity and the charm of aged textures.

|
- A zabuton is a traditional Japanese cushion primarily used for sitting on the floor. More than just a simple cushion, it serves as a designated, comfortable personal space, often placed directly on tatami mats or other floorings in homes, temples, or traditional restaurants.
|
|
|
今回展示した作品の中でも、特にご紹介したいのは座布団です。この作品は、日本の「侘び寂び」の美意識から深くインスピレーションを受け、それを私自身のヨーロッパの感性を通して表現したものです。簡素さの中に見出す美しさや、時間の流れがもたらす趣を捉えることを目指しました。
